Files From a 12th Level Intellect: Misty Knight
Name: Misty Knight
Universe of Origin: Marvel Comics
Moral Alignment: Hero
In a world where superheroes and supervillains reign supreme cops don’t have as much control as they used to. Misty Knight was a police officer with the NYPD until she was seriously injured preventing a bombing. Rather than be relegated to a desk job she quit and through the help of a certain billionaire was able to get a bionic arm. Misty then gets tangled up in the world of superheroes. She works with some of New York’s finest superheroes such as; Spider-Man, Iron Fist, Colleen Wing and Luke Cage. She turns into quite the strong female hero and can even be considered her own hero as she saves the day on multiple occasions.
Misty Knight is highly skilled in martial arts and is a proficient hand-to-hand combatant, with police combat training. She also has near-perfect aim with firearms, and possesses superb detective skills. Her bionic arm is superhumanly strong, and she can punch a target with incredible force, or crush objects as tough as steel in her vise-like grip. However, since the rest of her body is not cybernetically enhanced, she cannot lift objects heavier than her back, shoulders, and legs can physically support. Her arm’s advantages as a weapon are limited to kinetic crushing and impact forces. Her original bionic right arm was constructed from steel, and designed by Stark International. Her new arm was built by Stark Industries and is an alloy of Antarctic vibranium and diamond; at close range it can liquefy all known metals including adamantium.
After losing her arm Misty quit her job at the NYPD. She was soon after contacted by none other than Tony Stark who provided her with a bionic arm. This arm endowed her superhuman strength. Soon after she met Spider-Man, and then Iron Fist. Misty teamed up with her friend Colleen Wing and after saving her from an attempted rape, Misty decided to set up her private detective agency. She named her agency “Knightwing Restorations Ltd”. She soon after met Iron Fist and the two quickly fell in love. Misty’s “Knightwing Restorations Ltd” detective agency would go on to help Power Man and Iron Fist’s Heroes for Hire agency on numerous cases. Later, when Iron Fist broke up with her, Misty began a short romance with Luke Cage. This romance was a source of tension between Luke Cage and Iron Fist for a brief period. Misty later learned of Iron Fist’s apparent demise and was able to work with Namor the Sub-Mariner in finding and saving the hero.
Misty Knight was first mentioned in Marvel Premiere #20 (January 1975) and appeared in the next issue. She was a longtime supporting character in comic books such as X-Men and Power Man and Iron Fist. Misty is one of the stars of the 2006 Heroes for Hire series as well as a supporting character in the ongoing series The Immortal Iron Fist. Misty Knight appears in the adorable children’s show The Super Hero Squad Show. She has also appeared in several Marvel video games. Her most recent media appearance was in the Netflix original Luke Cage.
